Dans la secte is a graphic novel inspired by the true story of a young woman who has lost her bearings. Marion, an art director in an advertising agency, likes to have fun and party to forget the stress and fatigue of her long working days. After yet another break-up, a friend advises her to recharge her batteries and find fulfillment in a community that would enable her to solve all her problems. Marion discovers the Church of Scientology, a sectarian group that appeared in Europe in the 80s. She went there more and more regularly, confided in them and forged links. Her profile appealed, and she moved up the ranks to Copenhagen to perfect her training.
Over there, there's no room for reflection, for taking a step back and building relationships: you have to run, always run, work in a hurry... and above all, never give up. Until the day Marion decides to run away, to testify and to resist the community that has suffocated her for years. Her story is like that of thousands of cult victims: gradual indoctrination, a process of mental domination without apparent violence, estrangement from loved ones and from life in society in general.
This graphic novel enables readers to understand the mechanisms used by cults to recruit and control their victims. A poignant testimony produced in cooperation with ADFI, and republished with the support of Miviludes, in a version enriched with a prevention dossier.
