In this delicate, sensitive comic strip, Gabrielle Piquet tells the story of two brothers, Achille and Adrien, living in a coastal village. Achille, a former sailor haunted by the disappearance of his boat, looks after Adrien, considered simple-minded, who has claimed to hear the dead since he was a teenager. While the village tolerates his fantasies, Achille and their doctor believe these visions are linked to a repressed trauma, perhaps experienced during the Algerian war. The narrative gently explores the invisible scars left by the past, the unbreakable family ties and the blurred boundaries between madness, mourning and memory. Through her modest writing and pared-down drawings, the author reveals the fragile beauty of shattered beings.
