The Refugee Pavilion - France Culture - 2018
Frédéric Worms' interview takes us to the heart of an intercultural consultation at Avicenne Hospital, where psychologist and anthropologist Marie-Caroline Saglio-Yatzimirsky sees refugees marked by exile and violence. These "migrant" men and women bear the deep scars of what the clinician calls "intentional traumas", suffered in their country of origin, on the road to exile or during their reception in France. The interview highlights this singular work, where each consultation becomes a space for listening, reparation and resistance to the brutality of the world. By giving voice to these intimate accounts, such as that of Raj, a young Tamil from Sri Lanka, this interview reveals the power of personal stories and reminds us that understanding and hearing these wounds is already beginning to respond to collective suffering.
