The factory of perverts - Sophie Chauveau - 2016
La fabrique des pervers (The Pervert's Factory) is a deeply moving and relentless account in which novelist Sophie Chauveau traces the history of a family line marked by incest, manipulation and psychological violence. Based on her own experiences and those of a cousin, she conducts a painful investigation into four generations of abuse and silence, revealing a veritable dynasty of perpetrators and victims. Far from sensationalism, this uncommonly lucid account unravels the mechanisms of family and social impunity, and shows how "good people" could quietly destroy those they were supposed to protect. This book, both intimate and necessary, seeks to break the chain of silence and understand how incestuous violence is born, perpetuated - and perhaps undone.
