La voix de ceux qui crient - Essay - Marine-Caroline Saglio-Yatzimirsky - Albin Michel, 2018
In La voix de ceux qui crient, psychologist and anthropologist Marie-Caroline Saglio-Yatzimirsky gives a voice to those who are never heard from: asylum seekers. In all the consultations she has been running since 2010 at the Avicenne hospital in Bobigny, she gathers stories of lives shattered by torture, war or persecution. These men and women, often reduced to numbers or administrative files, gradually regain their voice, and with it, the possibility of once again becoming subjects of their own history. With humility and humanity, this book reveals the psychic suffering of exile, while questioning our collective capacity to welcome others. By transforming the consulting room into a meeting place, the author reminds us that genuine listening can heal, that speech sets us free, and that these voices from afar also have something to say about ourselves.
