16 lessons on trauma - Louis Crocq - Odile Jacob - 2012
Psychiatrist Louis Crocq, a pioneer in the psychological care of victims in emergency situations, shares the fruits of a lifetime devoted to understanding psychological trauma. In clear, accessible language, he answers the big questions: What is trauma? How can we identify, understand and support it? Drawing on numerous clinical cases, he distinguishes trauma from simple stress, explores its effects on memory, sleep and personality, and analyzes its specific forms in children and rescuers themselves. Louis Crocq, who set up the medical-psychological emergency units (CUMP) after the Saint-Michel bombing in 1995, sheds light on the paths of suffering, as well as on possible therapeutic responses. Aimed at practitioners and curious readers alike, this richly structured work is a valuable reference on an essential subject.
